The Government of the Slovak Republic, in accordance with the Program statement of the Government of the Slovak Republic for the years 2023-2027, presented and approved an nalysis of the socio-economic situation of the Trenčín self-governing region and a proposal for improvement in the social and economic sphere. The analysis describes the steps, measures and tasks of individual ministers of the Government of the Slovak Republic to fulfill this government aim. The Government of the Slovak Republic adopted this measure by Resolution no. UV-49280/2023 dated 11.12.2023.
The content of the measure is to find adequate solutions to ensure a fundamental acceleration of the process of the upper Nitra coal region. The transition of the Upper Nitra region began in 2019. The process was suspended by the COVID-19 pandemic and changes in the Slovak government. The measures adopted by the Slovak government relate to financial support, project support, support for the activities of cities and municipalities in the region, support for the creation of new jobs and employment in the region, diversification of the regional economy and an increase in its competitiveness, and thus also the quality of life of citizens. The measure also concerns the support of the green hydrogen production project at Elektráreň Nováky in order to create synergy with the emission-free public transport project of the Trenčín self-governing region through public resources. The Slovak Government will use funds from the General Treasury and the Just Transition Fund to support the region.
The measure will concern residents of the Trenčia region and the Horná Nitra coal region. It will be financed from the resources of the Fund for the fair transition of the Horná Nitra coal region, from the resources of the General Treasury Administration and the resources of the Slovak Government. Projects of municipalities and cities of the Trenčín self-governing region will be financed from the funds of the General Treasury Administration in the amount of €2,100,416. An additional €60,000,000 is planned for the projects of the self-governing region.
