On 6 December 2023, the government approved the Resolution No. 674/2023 on the payment of civil protection expenses to local governments for tasks and measures adopted during the declared state of emergency (from 12 March 2020 to 15 September 2023) in connection with the threats to the public healthdegree due to the disease COVID-19 in the territory of Slovakia.
The government has ensured financial coverage of all verified expenditures of local governments spent on ensuring civil protection tasks and measures during the COVID-19 pandemic. The expenses related to tasks and measures of civil protection adopted during the emergency situation in 47 municipalities reached a total of €518,245. The expenditures concerned: personal protective equipments (e.g. protective suits), disinfectant and hygiene supplies, consumables (e.g. packaging and bags (plastic, paper, plastic, polystyrene), services (e.g. disinfection of indoor spaces, removal and disposal of contaminated waste, transport - travel tickets and documents, meals), financial compensation (e.g. financial reward for emergency services, overtime work, work in a risky environment) - does not apply to employees' salaries during regular working hours).
The approved resources in the amount of €518,245 were fully paid out. The government released these resources from the budget of the Ministry of Health and transfered them to the budget of the Ministry of Interior.
