Duslo, a.s., a member of the AGROFERT group, is one of the most important chemical industry companies in Slovakia. It is a producer of fertilizers of European importance and a supplier of rubber chemicals worldwide. It produces polyvinyl acetate dispersions and adhesives, magnesium chemistry products and other special products. It is a large plant employing up to 2000 people. Production burdens the environment, but Duslo is gradually systematically reducing environmental pollution directly at the source, focusing on making groundwater and soil protection more efficient, reducing wastewater pollution, reducing emissions. from individual sources, reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) generation and reducing waste. On 18.9.2023, the company adopted a "Long-term Environmental Protection Strategy"
Duslo, a.s. is committed to the low-carbon development strategy of the Slovak Republic to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The goal of the strategy is to contribute to the greatest possible extent to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing energy efficiency and increasing the share of renewable energy sources in total energy consumption, for which it spends considerable resources. Currently, the company is preparing RES and green hydrogen production projects: an electrolyzer with a capacity of 15 MW, a wind farm with an installed capacity of 37 MW (6 wind turbines) and a photovoltaic power plant with an installed capacity of 20 MW (implementation is expected in 2026 - 2030). The amount produced annually represents approximately 50% of the current annual consumption of the company. Since 2020, electricity consumption has been decreasing (from 243,943 MWh in 2020 to 209,028 MWh in 2023) and natural gas consumption (from 492.46 million Nm³ in 2020 to 378.06 million Nm³), as well as heat consumption from DEZ. In the last two years (2022 and 2023), air emissions have decreased significantly (from over 900 tons in 2019 to 666 tons in 2022 and 574 tons in 2023).
Duslo a.s. has the right to use the RESPONSIBLE CARE logo, awarded by the Association of the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry of the Slovak Republic to companies that have and are implementing a program aimed at increasing health and environmental protection and safety in all activities related to business in the chemical industry. The extent of the costs incurred for these purposes can be illustrated by the example of the Closure and reclamation of the landfill and other environmental burdens, when the reserve for these purposes as of December 31, 2023 was €17,840 thousand.
