Skellefteå municipality in the region of Västerbotten region in the north of Sweden has applied for funding from the Just Transition Funds to develop customised traning courses and increase their adult education capacity in the region. The specific aim is to train the future workforce for the new green steel and metal factories that is key to the green transition in Sweden.
The measure aims to better match workers with the needs of the metal industry employers in the region, throughout the value chain. The project aims to coordinate the local actors to provide a more well suited adult vocational training to the local metal industry employers, either by creating new vocational training programmes or adapting existing training programmes.
