The Greenhouse Horticulture Heat Infrastructure Grant is a subsidy intended for heat cooperatives, heat companies and heat infrastructure companies that are already in the process of building a heat network or can start quickly because plans are already advanced. With this subsidy scheme, the government wants to help the expansion of heat networks.
This scheme is for parties investing in the construction of an efficient heat network for greenhouse farms. The companies should already be far along with their plans and can quickly start building their heat network. Enterprises suitable for making this investment include heat cooperatives, heat companies and heat infrastructure companies. These parties are eligible if their project cannot be implemented without subsidies. The project's unprofitable top must not be less than 25% of the eligible costs. At least 60% of the capacity required for heat supply must be purchased within the greenhouse horticulture sector. A condition in the scheme is that it must be an efficient heat network. A start-up budget of €12.5 million is available, but the intention is to raise this to €300 million as soon as possible.
In May 2024, the budget for the Subsidy for Heat Infrastructure in Greenhouse Horticulture (SWiG) has been increased from 12.5 million euros to 27 million euros, as announced by Minister Adema in the Government Gazette. Applications for the subsidy could be submitted until 30 August 2024.
