Background information

In the current economic situation creates difficulties for those who decide to start a new business. To support new small entrepreneurs in the future, on 14 March 2023 the Minister for Small and Medium-sized Businesses, Lex Delles, presented Bill 8115 on the new aid scheme to the members of the Small and Medium-sized Businesses Committee.

On 7 July the new law came into force, introducing aid for the first-time creation of micro-enterprises, i.e. any business employing fewer than 10 people and with an annual turnover or annual balance sheet total not exceeding €2 million and meeting the criteria set out in Annex I to Commission Regulation (EU) No 651/2014 of 17 June 2014.

Content of measure

The aim is to help these businesses overcome the liquidity problems they often face during the first period of activity by granting them lump-sum non-refundable monthly subsidies of €2,000 over a six-month period.

The aid is intended for the same craft and commercial activities as the investment aid provided for in the Act of 9 August 2018 on an aid scheme for small and medium-sized enterprises. It is reserved for newly created businesses, defined as businesses that carry out a new activity, as opposed to businesses that take over an existing activity, and which have held their establishment permit for no more than 6 months. The bill provides for various other criteria relating to the individual entrepreneur, which must be met in order to benefit from the aid
