The prolonged closure of the activities imposed by the Law Decree no. 19, issued on 25 March 2020 (articles 1 and 2), converted into the Law no. 35, issued on 22 May 2020, has undermined the financial sustainability of the economic activities affected. Accordingly, in order to favour the continuity and the survival of these closed activities, the Law Decree no. 73 (article 2), issued on 25 May 2021, introduced a specific fund to support closed economic activities.
The Law Decree no. 73 (article 2), issued on 25 May 2021, introduced a specific fund to support closed economic activities. Specifically, it provides a financial support to those activities which have remained closed as according to the legislative provisions for at least four months during the period between 1 January 2021 and the day of the implementation of the Law Decree no. 73/2021.
The Ministry for the Economic Development establishes the "Fund to support closed economic activities" with a total endowment of €100 million for the year 2021, according to the article 77 of the Law Decree no. 73/2021.

Governments across the EU continue to implement policies to support citizens and businesses in the face of rising food and energy prices caused by the COVID-19 crisis and intensified by the war in Ukraine. This article summarises the policy responses as reported in Eurofound's EU PolicyWatch database from January to September 2022.
