In order to support citizens' access to a safe home, to meet the economic difficulties of the tenants, and to reduce the risk of evictions, art. 9-quater of law 176 of 18 December 2020 introduced for the year 2021 a contribution for the owners of residential real estate units who reduce - for any amount - the rent for the contracts in place on 29 October 2020.
The amount of the contribution for the year 2021 corresponds to 50% of the agreed reduction, within the maximum annual limit of €1,200 for each tenant. The benefit is due provided that:
For this purpose, €50 million are allocated for the year 2021, assigned to the specific fund for the sustainability of the payment of rents for residential real estate units, set up at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
A provision of the Revenue Agency will define the application methods of the rule, also for the purpose of complying with the fixed spending limit. In fact, if the total amount of contributions to be disbursed based on the applications received should exceed the financial resources allocated, the financial administration will have to proportionally restate the percentage due to the individual tenant.
