In order to cope with the economic crisis of amateur sports associations and clubs which has arisen due to the measures relating to the containment and management of COVID-19, Law Decree n. 137 of 28 October 2020 (art. 3) established a special support fund named "Fund for the support of amateur sport associations and clubs" at the Ministry of Sport.
The Fund is intended to support the recovery of amateur sports associations and clubs who have ceased or reduced their institutional activity following the suspension of sports activities in order to slow and contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The Decree of the President of the Cabinet, in fact, suspended all contact sports (i.e. those indicated by the Decree of the President of the Cabinet of 13 October 2020, e.g. football, baseball, basketball, dance, martial arts) done by amateur associations and clubs (art. 1).
