Background information

The Ukrainian Resilience Fund was established by Healthy Ireland, an initiative from the Government of Ireland with four central goals for improved health and wellbeing as follows:

  1. Increase the proportion of people who are healthy at all stages of life
  2. Reduce health inequalities
  3. Protect the public from threats to health and wellbeing
  4. Create an environment where every individual and sector of society can play their part in achieving a healthy Ireland

Content of measure

The Healthy Ireland Ukrainian Resilience Fund is a once off €1 million fund to support projects helping Ukrainian refugees by delivering a range of health and wellbeing initiatives in line with the vision of Healthy Ireland.

The funding will be allocated across the 30 Local Authorities across Ireland.

The funding is being used to support a wide range of projects to support Ukrainian refugees including:

  • participation in recreational, physical, creative, social and cultural activities. supporting integration into the local community, including after school clubs for children and woodland walks for adults.
  • family excursions.
  • physical activity and movement, including yoga, dance, and adapted physical activity sessions aimed at older or medically vulnerable people.
  • therapeutic interventions to provide support in coping with the trauma of war and displacement.
