The local government of Budapest’s District 13 annually runs a tender to support the activities that improve the state of the environment in the district and promote the achievement of climate and environmental objectives of the local government. At present, the programme is financed by the Environmental Fund, created by the local government in 2018. The tender has been launched each year since 2008, with an annually revised sum allocated. A range of environment-related activities are eligible, some of which are directly related to the decarbonisation of residential buildings.
The local government provides small grants for various climate, environmental and animal protection purposes to private residents, apartment buildings and housing cooperations as well as environmental and animal protection associations. Out of the eligible project objectives, potentially decarbonisation-related are the various projects of environmental groups, the installation of renewable energy solutions on and thermal insulation of residential buildings, or the establishment of residential roof gardens or green facades on apartment buildings and the planting of deciduous trees. The maximum sum of the grant ranges from HUF 200,000 to HUF 500,000 (about €500-€1,300), depending on the content of the project and whether the site is a family dwelling or an apartment building. The allocated sum in 2024 is HUF 12 million (€31,000).
