On August 6, 2024, by decision no. 114801, the Ministry of National Economy assigned the implementation of the project "Customized Intervention Programs for Unemployed Youth, Including Actions for Needs Assessment, Career Counseling, and Social Empowerment" to the Research Institute of the Greek General Confederation of Labour (INE GSEE) and the National Organization for the Certification of Qualifications and Vocational Guidance (EOPPEP). The intervention focuses on the regions of Western Macedonia and the Peloponnese, which have been significantly affected by de-lignitization (economically, socially, and in terms of employment). During the transition process, particular attention will be given to protecting vulnerable population groups, such as young people. This project falls under Priority 4, titled "Fair Labor Transition," of the co-funded European program "Just Development Transition 2021-2027." The implementation pe-riod for the project is from June 1, 2024, to December 31, 2027.
The project "Customized Intervention Programs for Unemployed Youth, Including Actions for Needs Assessment" targets the intervention areas of the regions of Western Macedonia and the Peloponnese. The aim of this initiative is to support young people aged 18–29 who are not currently employed, with a focus on activating and integrating or reintegrating them into the labor market. Special attention will be given to "young people not in employment, education, or training" (NEETs). The project consists of a comprehensive set of tailored advisory and support services designed to promote employment for young people aged 18–29. It is structured into four categories of actions as follows: * Development of scientific tools, implemented through a competitive process in accordance with Law 4412/2016. * Needs assessment, career counseling, and social empowerment for youth, implemented through a competitive process in accordance with Law 4412/2016. * External evaluation, implemented through a competitive process in accordance with Law 4412/2016. * Coordination, scientific supervision, and monitoring of the project, implemented internally by the coordinating body, INE GSEE.
The project is expected to directly benefit a total of 600 young individuals aged 18–29, with approximately 432 participants from the Western Macedonia region and 168 from the Pel-oponnese. Additionally, the intervention aims to reach a broader target group of around 3,000 potential beneficiaries, who will receive information and needs assessment services before the final selection of the 600 participants. The total budget of the project is €8,340,000,
