A special bank account opened in spring 2020 at the Bank of Greece, on the initiative of the Ministry of Finance, for the deposit of donations to support the national effort to prevent and deal with the consequences of the coronavirus. See related case
The funding is coming exclusively from businesses and persons and was established by the Ministry of Finance which has the supervision and the authority to allocate the money.
The total amount collected with the contribution of 450 citizens and businesses was €2,503,25.
After the Decision of the Ministry of Finance, implementing decision No. 16432 of 8 February 2022, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health are addressing the increased needs for ambulances of the National Emergency Aid Centre throughout Greece due to the pandemic.
The Ministry of Finance, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the National Emergency Center, proceeded with the procurement for purchasing 17 ambulances on 23 March 2022.
According to the procurement, the technical standards of the ambulances must be aligned with those ambulances used by the National Health Emergency Center (EKAV).
The amount given by the special bank account established on the initiative of the Ministry of Finance. The cost of purchase of the ambulances was €1.23 million.
Specifically, two ambulances will be provided to each of the seven Regional Health administration Services (YPE) of the country, while the three largest YPE – Attica, Thessaly & Central Greece and Macedonia – will receive three ambulances each.
The measure will support the ten Regional Health administration Services (YPE) of the country.
