Background information

According to the Greek General Confederation of Labour (GSEE), dealing with the COVID-19 it's an unprecedented situation, which resulted in exceptional emergency measures which particularly affects the labour market, and therefore the working conditions. For this reason, GSEE through its structures and network, will provide prompt information on their website, instructions and clarifications on the new measures and policies for dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.

Content of measure

GSEE creates the 'ANTI-COVID-19' Employee Information and Support Group. The Group runs a special web page dedicated to the pandemic through which the workers (through a platform):

  • can obtain information and clarification on labour market issues;
  • submit questions and receive individualised answers;
  • submit any complaints with full respect of anonymity and in order to prevent any phenomena of employers' arbitrariness.

GSEE also calls on workers to be individually and collectively vigilant in managing the consequences of the emergency situation, receive the immediate information and to resort to the help of the trade unions in order to tackle their problems at work and face any employers' arbitrariness during the crisis. Support is aimed at all employees throughout Greece, without restrictions. Anyone independently of union membership can use the website and the supporting structures of GSEE to:

  • be informed of its working conditions and on what is entitled to as a result of the measures to deal with the COVID-19 crisis,
  • ask questions about changes in terms and conditions of work,
  • submit specific complaints about employers' arbitrariness,
  • report and make complaints of attempts or acts from employers to restrict collective action
  • submit complaints on violation of workers' rights.
