On 7 April 2022, the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture published information in Ukrainian on education and early childhood education. The information package is available in Finnish and Ukrainian. The aim is to produce a compendium for Ukrainian immigrants, providing information on Finnish education services and how to participate in them.
The information compendium is aimed at persons who have fled Russia’s war of aggression towards Ukraine and arrived in Finland. The ministry recognises that among those who have fled are many children and youth, whose settling into their everyday life in Finland will be eased by participation in education at different levels.
The information package contains information on education at different levels from early childhood education up until third cycle education, as well as adult education, language classes and complementary training. There is also information on the processes to recognise qualifications form Ukraine when entering the Finnish labour market.
The Ministry states that municipalities and agencies working with integration will provide more information on educational opportunities for persons moving to Finland. No further information on costs or other values is available.
More than 46,500 people fleeing the war in Ukraine arrived in Finland under temporary protection in 2022.
