Background information

The aim of the measure is to raise awareness among businesses and non-governmental organisations on energy efficiency and energy conservation. The training courses include topics like energy-efficient renovation of buildings, everyday practices for energy conservation, renewable energy, energy audits and labels, carbon footprint, how to use renewable energy sources in manufacturing and so on.

The training courses are designed and offered by Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) and funded by European LEADER Association of Rural Development. It is mentioned that the partners of TalTech are regional NGOs that aim to improve local life and business (Kirderannik, Virumaa koostöökogu and Paik).

Content of measure

There are currently two distinct training courses, one tailored for NGOs and the other for businesses, designed to benefit the eastern regions of Estonia, specifically Lääne-Virumaa and Ida-Virumaa. These courses are provided by TalTech - Tallinn University of Technology.

The primary goal of the first course is to enhance awareness and capacity among local non-profit organizations, foundations, micro-enterprises, housing associations, and engaged community members in the realm of energy efficiency. On the other hand, the second course aims to increase the awareness of entrepreneurs in the region with the ultimate objective of achieving energy savings within their companies. The course does not specify the target group further, but given the contents of the course, participants are likely to be owners, founders or employees in leading positions. Both courses aim to foster awareness through practical examples and empower participants to apply this newfound knowledge in their daily operations.

Each course involves eight in-person classes, each lasting 45 minutes, along with an additional eight hours of independent study.
