In their coalition agreement (lines 3027f.), the governing parties of Brandenburg, consisting of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW), agreed to launch a so-called strategic recruitment offensive to specifically attract skilled workers and labour from abroad. The state parliament also passed the motion ‘Foreign skilled labour - a win-win situation for Brandenburg’ (LT-Drs. 7/3547). The project is justified by the increasing shortage of skilled labour, which is already evident in the Lausitz region. The main reason for this is the particularly sharp decline in the labour force potential compared to the rest of the country.
Three model projects for recruitment are currently planned: two projects in the commercial sector - one regional project in Lusatia and one project in the context of a future relocation project. A third is to be dedicated to the healthcare sector and the recruitment of nursing staff.
The model project in the commercial sector in Lausitz is being implemented in cooperation with the chambers, the International Talent Service of the Brandenburg Economic Development Corporation (WFBB), IQ service centres for skilled labour immigration and the company support agency bea-Brandenburg.
The project for recruitment in the healthcare sector is being initiated in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and also utilises existing support structures.
No data is yet available on the recruitment of skilled labor for Brandenburg.
