The regional transformation network for the vehicle and supplier industry in Berlin-Brandenburg (ReTraNetz-BB) supports the vehicle industry in the region, which is currently undergoing profound change. The project aims to support SMEs in Berlin-Brandenburg in the transformation to CO2-neutral mobility and production, promote existing strengths, develop new topics and devise measures. It should not only benefit the vehicle and supplier industry, but also deliver results that are transferable to other sectors and contexts. The project serves to secure relevant future fields of the automotive industry in the region and promotes the preservation and expansion of added value and jobs. Members of the network include various stakeholders from educational institutions, science and business development as well as the IG Metall trade union and the Association of the Metal and Electrical Industry.
ReTraNetz-BB offers a wide range of measures to effectively support the transformation of the vehicle and supplier industry in Berlin-Brandenburg. A central focus is on the qualification, retraining and further training of skilled workers. The network develops and promotes practical concepts, helps to identify training needs and supports companies with examples of best practice. It assists in the testing and evaluation of measures to ensure that have a lasting effect. ReTraNetz-BB also initiates long-term cooperation and networks between science and industry. In this way, technological core competences and results from research projects can be transferred into innovative solutions for industry. The range of services also includes arranging funding opportunities in areas such as digitalisation, coaching, investment, research and development, energy optimisation and internationalisation. To develop new business models, the network promotes dialogue through expert discussions and workshops, with a particular focus on digital business models and the circular economy. The "real world laboratory" at the Production Technology Centre Berlin serves as a central location for testing innovative process chains and transferring sustainable technologies into real-life application scenarios.

Social partners' role in the implementation, monitoring and assessment phase:
The involvement of the social partners in the ReTraNetz-BB project was central to the design, implementation and monitoring of the measure and met both the institutional requirements and the demands of the social partner organisations. Key social partners, such as IG Metall and the Association of the Metal and Electrical Industry, are actively involved to ensure that the initiatives meet the needs of the sector and promote the development of the workforce. Their contributions include helping to shape strategic planning, running workshops, supporting training programmes and ensuring that the measures meet the needs of the labour market. This collaboration allows for the inclusion of workers' perspectives and strengthens the project's impact on job security and skills development.
The social partners support the ReTraNetz-BB and see transformation as a key task for the future. IG Metall stresses the importance of mobilising the expertise of all stakeholders and welcomes the cooperation within the network. The Association of the Metal and Electrical Industry expects ReTraNetz-BB to accelerate the networking of industrial companies with the digital economy in order to promote technical innovations and new business models. Overall, the network is seen as an important instrument for jointly exploiting the opportunities of transformation.
