Background information

The aim of the program is to support the integration of Ukrainian migrants who were granted temporary protection, or hold a tolerance visa, through language education and to enable their studies at public universities in Czech-language study programs. Public universities that provided language and vocational training for foreigners in the years 2021–2023 to the extent of at least 400 hours per semester can apply for a subsidy to organize these courses.

Content of measure

Three intensive language courses, each with a minimum duration of 660 teaching hours, must be implemented as part of the subsidy. These courses are intended for groups of 12 to 18 participants and run from October 1, 2024 to August 31, 2025. Each participant will receive a scholarship of CZK 16,000 per month. Public universities can submit applications for a subsidy for language support for Ukrainian citizens from August 15, 2024 to September 15, 2024. This programme represents an important step in the effort to integrate Ukrainian migrants into Czech society and support them on their path to higher education, which should be used in the Czech or Ukrainian labour market.
