Background information

On May 15, 2024, the government approved the parameters of the pilot program of assisted voluntary returns to Ukraine. The project is intended for both persons granted temporary protection and applicants or persons already granted international protection. The project is planned for six months, from June to November 2024. The project was sponsored by the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic.

Content of measure

The total capacity of the pilot program is 430 people. A bus ticket from the place of residence in the Czech Republic to the nearest place of residence in Ukraine will be provided for 400 people. For the remaining 30 people in a complicated health condition, individual assistance in the form of providing medical transport services is planned. A foreigner will be able to submit an application for reimbursement of costs associated with traveling back to Ukraine only once. If case the foreigner then wants to submit an application for a residence permit in the next twelve months, s/he will have to cover half of the costs.

Use of measure

The total capacity of the pilot program is 430 people. The amount of CZK 5,595,000 (225,445 EUR) has been allocated for the project from the budget of the Ministry of the Interior. Data on how many people took advantage of the project's offer is not yet known.
