Background information

On 8 April 2022 the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic published a call for adaptation groups which should support the adaptation and socialisation of Ukrainian migrant children aged 3 to 15 years and the development of Czech language skills to prepare them for entry into Czech schools.

These activities are realised by eligible subjects, which apply for the financial support under this call. Eligible subject are universities, legal entities registered in the school register, municipalities, NGOs and organisations operating primarily in the field of child and youth education.

Eligible activities have to be realised from 1 April 2022 to 31 August 2022. The call is opened until 31 May 2022.

Content of measure

Eligible applicant can receive a minimum of CZK 150,000 CZK (€6,170 approx.) and maximum of CZK 75,000,000 (€3,083,881 approx.). A total amount of CZK 1,250,000,000 (€51,398,026) has been allocated for this call.

The funding provided under this call is for the following activities:

  • Activity A: Leisure time adaptation groups for foreign children aged 3 to 6. This activity has to cover a block of 20 hours of leisure activities and development of Czech speech skills for a group of 12-24 children.
  • Activity B: Leisure time adaptation groups for foreign children aged 6 to 15. This activity has to cover the same type of activities as Activity A for at least 15 children.
  • Activity C: Leisure time adaptation groups for foreign children aged 3 to 15, organised by municipalities as a block of 20 hours of leisure activities and development of Czech speech skills for a group of 8-12 children.

Use of measure

According to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic](http://www.msmt.cz) about 30,000 Ukrainian children aged 3–15 were supported in this grant call.

Language courses were provided by 389 organizations, which were supported with CZK 245,600,000 (€10,008,150 approx.) from the state.
