Background information

This is a subsidy program to support sustainable water management in households. The program was announced in April 2017 as part of the National Environment Program, from September 2021 the support was included under the New Green Savings subsidy program.

The goal of the program is to motivate owners and builders of family and apartment buildings to build systems allowing to reuse rainwater for watering the garden or as utility water, thereby reducing the amount of drinking water taken from surface and underground sources.

Owners of existing family and apartment buildings used for permanent housing and subsidized organizations established by territorial self-governing units can apply for a subsidy.

Content of measure

The subsidy allocated from the program is intended to build systems which allow the following use of rainwater:

  • Use of captured rainwater for watering the garden;
  • Use of captured rainwater for toilet flushing and possibly watering the garden;
  • Use of purified waste water as utility water, possibly for watering the garden (with one or two tanks) with a possible combination with rainwater.

The amount of support provided under the program is as follows:

  • Rainwater for watering the garden - up to CZK 55,000;
  • Rainwater used for commercial use (for flushing) and for irrigation - up to CZK 65,000;
  • Waste water in combination with rainwater as utility and irrigation water - up to CZK 105,000

The resulting amount depends on the type of measure supported and the volume of the tank.

The subsidy for the use of rainwater and waste water can only be drawn in combination with the insulation of an existing building, a new building or with the replacement and installation of energy sources. The subsidy can also be used for listed buildings.
