In November 2023, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Work implemented a training programme aiming at meeting the training needs of engineers of the Ministry on issues regarding the green transition. More specifically, it was a decision taken by the administration of the Ministry for the support of engineers in order to align their actions with the targets of the ‘Fit for 55’ package for the reduction of emissions in the construction sector and in public buildings, particularly.
The training programme addressed the engineers of the Departments of Public Works and Electromechanical Services of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works. It provided the participants with the information on the challenges that the construction industry is currently facing, or will face in the future, in the construction or renovation of buildings as a result of the Fit for 55 climate targets.
The thematic units covered by the programme were: sustainable design, energy efficiency, bioclimatic design, use of renewable energy sources, use of materials, modernisation and renovation, indoor environmental quality, as well as other environmental issues. The duration of the programme was 38 hours.
Around 100 engineers of the Departments of Public Works and Electromechanical Services of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works followed.
