Background information

To tackle global warming and reduce rising energy costs, companies' energy consumption needs to be greener and more efficient. Companies investing in this can now also apply for the new GREEN investment support at VLAIO: Greener and More Efficient Energy Consumption in Industry.

With the call GREEN (Greener and More Efficient Energy Use in Industry), the Flemish government provides financial support for companies investing to make the transition from fossil fuels to green energy carriers (greening) and/or to reduce the total energy demand of the company by increasing the energy efficiency of a core activity/process (energy efficiency). Both new and replacement investments are eligible.

This support is available to SMEs, large enterprises as well as non-profit organisations with an economic activity.

Content of measure

In terms of scope, all SMEs and large enterprises that invest in an operating seat in the Flemish Region and carry out an eligible main activity are eligible. In terms of the level of ecology support, a distinction is made between SMEs and large enterprises.

The aid amount that will be provided depends on the size of the enterprise (SME or large enterprises) and on the eco-class. The net aid is the aid percentage on the extra cost of eligible costs compared to the cost of a standard investment.

The support varies from 20% up to 40%, depending on the eco-class and size of the organisations.

Once approved, the aid will be paid in two 50% installments based on the invoices and/or financial leases submitted and evidence of capitalisation of expenditure.

Updates

The following updates to this measure have been made after it came into effect.

10 July 2024

This subsidy is also subject to the new ecological aid regulations. The primary change is that aid rates now vary depending on the specific theme. For renewable energy production, higher support rates are now available.
