Enterprises in the Flemish Region are eligible for a premium when they decide to implement ecological investments that are either environmentally friendly, energy-saving and/or renewable.
With the ecology premium, the Flemish government aims to encourage businesses to organise their production processes sustainably, climate-friendly, circular, and energy-efficient. In doing so, it assumes a portion of the additional investment costs associated with such an investment.
In 2018, the measure was allocated a total budget of approximately €20 million.
The subsidy amount is determined based on the stated incremental cost of the key investment components, type (environmentally friendly, energy-saving, renewable), eco-class/eco number and company size.
All companies with an operating branch in the Flemish Region and that have an eligible main activity are eligible for an Ecology Premium+. For the height of the premium, a distinction is made between SMEs and large enterprises.
The total amount of ecology premium granted cannot exceed €1 million per company over a 3-year period.

A ministerial decree of 1 December 2023 amended the restricted list of technologies eligible for ecological subsidies, in line with the new General Block Exemption Regulation (GBER), effective from 1 July 2023. The updated list applies to support applications submitted from 1 January 2024. Specific changes include:
